A traffic survey was carried out on Wednesday 12-Jul-2006.
Previous traffic surveys had been carried out in 1997 and 2004.
The 2006 traffic survey covered vehicles passing through (a) the central
crossroads, (b) the Stockton Road / Norton Road junction and (c) the junction
where the new slip road from the A66 meets Middleton Road. The survey
counted vehicles turning in each possible direction at each junction during
each 15-minute period between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. The count was done by
category of vehicle --- pedal cycles, motor cycles, cars / vans, buses, light
commercial and heavy commercial --- so we have a lot of detailed data about
vehicle movements in Sadberge on the day of the survey.
A team of professional enumerators covered the busy periods (7 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.,
12 noon - 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.), with local volunteers covering the
periods in between.
