SADBERGE PARISH PLAN -- TRAFFIC SURVEY

Graph number 03   Previous
Comments:     Between 1997 and 2004, traffic decreased on Stockton Road and Darlington Road as the new slip road on the A66 (and the closure of the gaps in the A66 central reservation) diverted traffic from Stockton Road and Darlington Road to Middleton Road.  Traffic which used to come in to Sadberge from the westbound A66 along Stockton Road now comes in along Middleton Road.  Traffic that used to go out of Sadberge to the westbound A66 along Darlington Road ow goes out down Middleton Road.

There was a big increase in traffic in both directions on Middleton Road between 1997 and 2004.  Part --- but not all --- of this increase is due to the diversion of traffic from Stockton Road and Darlington Road.

There was a significant increase in traffic on Hill House Lane.

There was also a significant increase in traffic on the section of Middleton Road between Sadberge and Middleton St. George.

See the Traffic presentation to the Open Meeting on 9-Oct-2006 for a diagnosis of the reasons for the increased traffic on the north-south route through Sadberge.
