Share your knowlege of Darlington and help to promote distinctive design.

Darlington Borough Council's Planning Policy Team wants to make sure that the design of new developments in Darlington reflects the special character and distinctiveness of the Borough's heritage, improves the environment and provides high quality, sustainable and safe development for the community in the future.

The team would like to draw on your local knowledge to help to make sure that they have identified all the distinctive features that make Darlington Borough a special place to live in, to work in and to visit.

The team has already identified a number of features that could be used to promote distinctive design in the Borough in the future, but they know that they might have missed some features that you believe help to make your part of the Borough special.  They would therefore welcome your comments on their work so far.

The outcome of the workshop wil be used to help to promote distinctive design in the draft Design Supplementary Planning Document.  This document, which will be an important part of the Darlington Local Development Framework, will set out detailed design guidance on the location, form and type of new development in the Borough and will be used to help to assess the quality of design in all planning applications.

There will be a separate consultation process on the Design Supplementary Planning Document in November 2008.
